Day Two’s late-night show promises gritty textures and raw sounds from three not-so-underground bands.
Fresh off the 2025 Polaris short-list, Ribbon Skirt’s debut album Bite Down sunk its teeth into critical acclaim (Exclaim! #1 Album of the Year!) and our hearts. Led by Anishinaabe musician Tashiina Buswa and guitarist Billy Riley, the band channels angular guitars, driving rhythms, and lyrical threads that explore memory, love, grief, and Buswa’s relationship to her Indigenous heritage.
Status/Non-Status is the evolving musical project of the Anishinaabe artist and community worker, and a close-knit group of collaborators (fka Whoop-Szo.) Led by Adam Sturgeon, the band peers inward to examine the self within its surroundings through sky-sweeping folk rock and flashes of post rock.
Newcomers Mad Iris bloom in Toronto’s music scene with the look and feel of a mid-90s garage band. Somewhere between noise rock and shoegaze, don’t miss the DIY magic and attitude, prior to the release of their upcoming debut album, on legendary US indie label, Ba Da Bing Records.
