Little Scream

Delivering her own brand of indie folk and rock, Little Scream is the stage name of guitarist and singer-songwriter Laurel Sprengelmeyer. Born in Iowa, Sprengelmeyer spent her formative years in the United States before relocating to Canada, where she became a key figure in Montreal’s indie music scene. Her first album, The Golden Record (2011) received 4.5 stars and “Album Pick” rating on AllMusic, and the New York Times evoked its “”hints of the divine””, naming her one of the best new acts to follow at SXSW. Her second album “Cult Following” received band of the week status from The Guardian and 5 stars from Bust Magazine, and featured guests including Sufjan Stevens, Mary Margaret O’hara, and Sharon Van Etten.  Her latest album, Speed Queen, received 4 stars from Mojo and Record Collector, where it’s described as “”Cocteau Twins fronted by Joan Baez””.

Little Scream has toured extensively, playing numerous opening and headlining tours in North America and Europe.  She has appeared as a guest vocalist and / or instrumentalist for groups including The National, The Barr Brothers, Alexi Murdoch and Leif Vollebekk, and is a member of Richard Reed Parry’s Quiet River of Dust.
