Le Ren

Lauren Spear, known professionally as Le Ren, is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter whose music resonates with emotional depth and timeless grace. Raised on Bowen Island, British Columbia, she was immersed in folk and bluegrass traditions from an early age, studying the genre throughout her teens. Her upbringing in a close-knit island community instilled in her a profound appreciation for storytelling and musical craftsmanship.

Now based in Montreal, Le Ren has cultivated a sound that blends classic folk influences with contemporary sensibilities. Her debut EP, Morning & Melancholia (2020), introduced listeners to her poignant songwriting and delicate vocals. This was followed by her critically acclaimed full-length album, Leftovers (2021), produced by Chris Cohen and featuring collaborations with artists like Buck Meek of Big Thief. The album explores themes of love, loss, and introspection, solidifying her place in the modern folk landscape.

Le Ren has toured extensively, sharing stages with artists such as Jeff Tweedy, Orville Peck, and Andy Shauf. She is currently working on her second full-length album, a more expansive and full-band record that reflects her evolution as a songwriter and producer. With a voice that evokes both vulnerability and strength, Le Ren continues to enchant listeners with deeply personal and universally resonant narratives.
