Burs is named for the small things that stick with you, whose songs seek to capture just that. We are a Toronto/Hamilton folk and alt-rock quartet whose four members, Lauren Dillen, Ray Goudy, Devon Savas, and Aidan McConnell, gather from a variety of musical backgrounds, blending deep folk roots with experimental sonic elements, and tactful, fluid passages of improvisation. Their 2022 debut album Holding Patterns earned praise for its ethereal sound, with single “Lily” featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock playlist.
The band’s self-produced second album, Significance, Otherness released November 21st, 2025, on Birthday Cake Records. Engineered by Eli Browning (Sister Ray, Spencer Krug) and mixed by Adam Brisbin (Big Thief, Buck Meek, Cassandra Jenkins), it is a collection of songs about duality: the significance of love reserved for our most certain few, and the degrees of otherness that separate us from each other.
