bikebike explores multi-idiomatic music, with an eclecticism of rhythm and dance oriented composition, cultivating the spirit of the moment with a general sense of digging for something interesting to discover, and groove out to. The project has been developing for many years, with song ideas appearing via exposure to a wide variety of places and experiences. The project aims to dissolve boundaries between the sounds of machine music and humans, and cultivate the sonic experience of their collaboration. Integrating human played strings, keys and drums into the underlying framework and canvas of electronic palettes, their music emulates and recapitulates modern dance music, within the context of the traditions of improvisation, swing and shuffle, and in the pocket grooving, with all the micro variations and imperfections that encapsulate the human feel of instrumentation, evoking a specific and authentic connection with audiences.
