Storied and influential American indie-rock band Silkworm comes back to Toronto for the first time in 26 years!

Formed in 1987, Silkworm is revered by those in the know. Relocating from Missoula, Montana to Seattle and eventually Chicago, the band has released nine acclaimed albums on iconic labels including Matador and Touch and Go Records. They disbanded in 2005 following drummer Michael Dahlquist tragic passing, and reunited in 2024 to honour their late friend and collaborator Steve Albini, joined by drummer Jeff Panall (Songs: Ohia, Mint Mile). Playing together as a quartet for the first time in 30 years proved both emotional and exhilarating, inspiring a long-awaited return to the stage.

The band’s enduring legacy is celebrated in the documentary Couldn’t You Wait: The Story of Silkworm and the forthcoming book Lay It Down in Full View.

For their historic return to Toronto, Silkworm will be joined by Fines, the songwriting project of Darcy Hancock. Many listeners will remember Hancock as a member of Vancouver’s indie-rock favourites, Ladyhawk, whose records and non-stop touring helped establish them as one of Canada’s most beloved guitar bands of the 2000s.
