Wavelength Music is seeking fresh energy and expertise to enhance its volunteer Board of Directors and contribute to the organization’s growth and success in 2026 and beyond!
We are currently seeking applications from interested potential Board members to fill up to three vacancies. Applications are due July 24th; see below for information on how to apply. While previous Board experience is valued, we are interested in receiving any and all applications for individuals who have a demonstrated passion for our mandate, and have experience working collaboratively with a team of equally motivated people. Availability requirements typically fall between 5-10 hours per month throughout the year.
We are currently looking to enhance both the depth and breadth of expertise and unique perspectives on our Board. Some of the skill sets and backgrounds we are interested in include:
— Real Estate Development
— Charitable Fundraising
— Financial Management
— Entertainment Law
This is in no way an exhaustive list, but is demonstrative of the wide variety of skills that we feel will be important in providing governance for our organization in the near future.

Wavelength is, at its core, an organization centred around the values of community; we aim to help encourage and develop the independent music scene in Toronto in a variety of ways. For over 26 years, we have provided a platform for diverse artists (from Toronto and around the world) to share their music with new audiences, hone their craft, and reach new heights. Over the last few years, Wavelength has taken this commitment to new levels, producing critically acclaimed events and projects including an annual music festival and conference, a year-round concert series, a pilot venue space, and research and development projects that have led to an increased role in advocacy for the independent live music sector.
As a member of our Board of Directors, your time and effort would go toward directly supporting these initiatives, and in so doing providing the organization with the necessary governance to continue supporting the needs of the artistic community in Toronto.
Responsibilities
All members of our Board of Directors are required to:
— Attend Wavelength monthly events and quarterly Board meetings
— Manage/participate in a minimum of one Board committee
— Provide governance and strategic direction
— Support and participate in sponsorship and fundraising efforts
— Act as an ambassador for the Wavelength organization and its mandate
Qualifications & Skills
Some of the attributes we look for in members of our Board of Directors include, but are not limited to:
— Passion and vision for fostering, growing, and sustaining independent live music in Toronto
— Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the fundamentals of Board governance
— An understanding of the operational realities of non-profit arts organizations in Canada
— The ability to network, collaborate, and engage with a variety of stakeholders

To serve our mandate to engage with all Torontonians, a crucial element involves attracting Board members from diverse backgrounds and traditions, who vary by their race and ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, culture, religion, age, and physical abilities. Wavelength is committed to increasing the numbers of underrepresented groups on the Board, and striving to remove sources of unconscious bias in the Board appointment process.

Wavelength Music is a non-profit arts platform that presents concerts, festivals, and conversations about music and city-building in the Toronto area. Established in 2000 by a collective of indie musicians, Wavelength supports emerging and under-recognized artists across diverse genres, curates immersive event experiences, and leads transformative research and development projects.
