Bernice

Bernice is the project of Toronto-based vocalist/songwriter Robin Dann and her friends. “The most familiar genre labels can only partially categorize Bernice’s sound”, said Pitchfork recently. This might be because Dann and the rest of the band all went through music school and so their listening habits are pretty all over the place; Robin completed a Masters in Music from Goldsmiths, University of London, and her band – Thom Gill (keyboards/samples), Felicity Williams (vocals), Phil Melanson (drums/e-drums) and Dan Fortin (bass) – features active members of Bahamas, Owen Pallett, Leif Vollebekk and DIANA. Bernice toured much of 2017 supporting Martha Wainwright and released ‘Puff’, a 5-song EP on June 16th, 2017 to resounding critical acclaim from Pitchfork, NPR, Stereogum, The Fader and Zane Lowe. Puff was produced by Grammy-award winner Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Lucius) and Matt Smith (Prince Nifty). Bernice will release their next full length, Puff: In the air without a shape on May 25th with Arts & Crafts.
